A further milestone...

Once again, we have reason to celebrate at AlohaSpirit: The Registry of Empirical Medicine (EMR; ErfahrungsMedizinischeRegister) has just registered Noëlle Delaquis and Cornelia Weidmann as the two first Lomilomi therapist in Switzerland! This paves the way for the registration of further Lomilomi therapists.

Underlying this is ten years of great dedication by AlohaSpirit – a dedication that is of great importance for all Lomilomi therapists in the country and is the foundation to further spread our massage throughout the country.

Why is EMR registration so important?

• The EMR – as well as the Swiss Foundation for Complementary Medicine ASCA - supports clients in choosing qualified therapists regarding complementary medicine methods. In other words: If you want to book a Lomilomi massage and be sure of the quality, it is preferable to look for the therapist on the EMR or ASCA website. As they only accept therapists who can provide proof of comprehensive training, registration is equivalent to a quality label.
• Registration with EMR and ASCA has financial implications. The health insurance companies also look at who is registered with the two organizations. Therefore, registration is also the ticket to enter into the health insurance billing system. Currently, ten health insurances partially cover the costs for a Lomilomi therapy within their complimentary insurances. Lomilomi clients should ask their insurance if and to what extent they cover Lomilomi treatments.

Would you also like to be awarded the EMR quality label? We are happy to explain how to get you there. You need two things:

• A specialized lomilomi training consisting of 330 learning hours distributed over 11 modules. At the end of the training, you receive a diploma. Currently, this specialized training can only be completed at AlohaSpirit.
• A foundational training consisting of 340 learning hours. It includes basic knowledge in the field of complementary therapies and their application. The course is offered by several schools in the country. If you would like to know more, please feel free to contact us.

If you already have Lomilomi training, we can offer you a passerelle. Meaning: We will conduct a competence test and collectively evaluate if certain modules can be credited. Please contact us regarding this topic as well!

AlohaSpirit invites all Lomilomi practitioners to bring their training up to the standard required by EMR and/or ASCA to have the best possible expertise as a Lomilomi therapist and to be able to benefit from support by the health insurance companies. Lomilomi - if performed in Hawaiian tradition - is now a recognized complementary therapy, which enables you to build up your practice.
