«The power of inner disarmament»
I recently had the pleasure of attending the premiere of the film «Wisdom of Happiness» about His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. The film will be shown in cinemas from December 3rd. I owe this special invitation to the wonderful fact that I was able to play a small part in the film.
His Holiness speaks to us directly in the film, benevolently, clearly, sometimes humorously and very insistently. We all should be more mindful, peaceful, grateful, tolerant in the world and thereby reducing suffering. An inner disarmament must take place! You, me, us and more and more of us.
I realized once again how lucky we are with our school AlohaSpirit. We teach values such as kindness, compassion, peace and tolerance - ALOHA - values that we can nurture, pass on, and engage with daily.
Much of what the Dalai Lama conveys in the film and directly asks us to live by is part of our code of ethics, our Lomilomi massage training and our everyday life. What a privilege, what an honor and what a responsibility.
The film is a legacy from the Dalai Lama to us all. At almost 90 years of age, with his experience in meditation and Buddhist thought, he understands like no other how humanity functions and what we still need to work on.
It is therefore extremely important to be part of the solution and make this world a better place, step by step. That is the only way. You, me, us and more and more of us. Live ALOHA!

«The power of inner disarmament»
The Dalai Lama says: «Inner disarmament is needed.» These words remind us that true peace begins within – with each and every one of us. While the world is characterized by external conflicts and tensions, the real challenge is to create peace in our hearts and minds.
Inner disarmament means giving up all «fighting»: against ourselves, against others and against circumstances that we cannot always influence. This inner attitude helps us to flow with the current of life and arrive in the here and now.
What does inner disarmament mean in concrete terms?
- Acknowledge resentment and negative emotions: Negative emotions are like stones that we carry inside us. They weigh us down and prevent us from bringing peace into the world and reducing suffering. Through inner disarmament, we learn to release this burden.
- Making peace with yourself: The first step towards inner disarmament is self-acceptance. Only those who find peace within themselves can bring peace into the world.
- Cultivate mindfulness: Mindfulness helps us to recognize and transform conflicts and tensions. In encounters with people, to feel interest and seek solutions, to look for connections in differences instead of confrontation and exclusion.
Inspiration for your practice:
How about consciously creating small moments of silence in the near future – starting today! – consciously create small moments of silence in which you ask yourself: «What inner conflicts am I carrying with me right now?» Find a daily practice – be it meditation, a short breathing exercise, singing or mindful walking – that helps you to connect mindfully with your inner self.
Through inner disarmament, we as a community can contribute to a more peaceful and harmonious environment. Let's work together to create more peace on the outside, in connection with ourselves, the people around us and the whole earth.
From a Hawaiian perspective, we are talking about ALOHA and LOKAHI, both of which are key concepts in our education. Whether Dalai Lama, Kumu Keala or Tutu Myra – everything begins and ends with you, me, us.
You, me, us and more and more of us. Live ALOHA!
