Lomilomi - Therapy for Body, Mind and Soul
Based on 25 years of experience, AlohaSpirit offers you various training opportunities in the field of Lomilomi. You can find all the details in our brochure. Our two diploma training courses - Lomilomi Practitioner and Lomilomi Therapist - are associated with benefits that are unique in Switzerland.
Here is a summary of the training courses:
Lomilomi Introduction: Our introductory for beginners has a duration of four days. You will learn the basic Lomilomi techniques. After completion, you will be able to perform a Lomilomi massage, e.g., in a personal environment with friends and acquaintances . The introductory course corresponds to module 1 of the training program. The introductory course is also the basis for all further training and all our advanced modules, which allow you to practise Lomilomi on a professional basis. After completing the introductory course, you will receive a certificate of attendance.

To the Lomilomi introduction course
Lomilomi Practitioner: This specialist training consists of eleven modules and covers a total of 41 days of teaching time, spread over one or more years. The basis for the Lomilomi Practitioner training is our successfully completed Lomilomi introductory course. The introductory course corresponds to module 1 of the Lomilomi Practitioner training. After passing the final exam, you will receive a diploma with the title Lomilomi Practitioner. On the basis of this training you can open your own practice.

Lomilomi Therapist: Like the Practitioner specialist training, this training also consists of eleven modules and extends over a total of 41 days of teaching time, spread over one or more years. The basis for the Lomilomi Therapist training is our successfully completed Lomilomi introductory course. The introductory course corresponds to module 1 of the Lomilomi therapist training. To become a Lomilomi therapist, in addition to the training at AlohaSpirit, you are also required to complete basic medical training at a specialist school. After passing the final exams for both specialist training and basic training, you will receive your diploma as a Lomilomi therapist.

A Lomilomi diploma at AlohaSpirit brings you significant advantages
- Lomilomi Therapy is recognized by the ExperientialMedicine Register (EMR) and the Swiss Foundation for Complementary Medicine (ASCA). This means that with our Lomilomi Therapist diploma, you can register with both organizations.
- Another advantage of the AlohaSpirit diploma: Whether as a Lomilomi Therapist or Practitioner, you can become a member of the Swiss Association of Medical Massage (SVMM) as well as the Association Lomilomi Hawai'i (ALH). These memberships provide critical benefits for a successful future in your new profession. Your clients will see that you are qualified and competent.
- One last plus of your training at AlohaSpirit: With the Lomilomi Therapist diploma, you have the opportunity to have the costs of your treatment covered by health insurance. The insurance companies do not cover all costs, and not all of them are currently doing so, but more and more are!
- Registration or membership with EMR, ASCA, SVMM and AHL is currently only possible with a successfully completed diploma training at AlohaSpirit! This is unique in Switzerland.
Important

- A detailed cost breakdown of the training courses can be found in the Download section of our website.
- Registration with EMR and ASCA requires additional training in medical basics, to be completed at an external school recognized by EMR and ASCA. EMR requires 340 hours of training, ASCA 150 hours. The basic training can be completed either before or during the specialist training with us. The costs vary between approx. CHF 4,000 and CHF 10,000.
- All our training modules are also available individually.
- In addition to the courses, we offer various further training courses - for deepening and repetition, with additional Lomilomi techniques or in Hawaiian philosophy of life (with our teacher Kumu Keala Ching).
- The training courses at AlohaSpirit are accompanied by two to three instructors.
This is how our training is composed
Module 1 / Introduction to Lomilomi Therapy:
In a 4-day basics-workshop we teach the basic techniques of traditional Lomilomi massage. The workshop is a prerequisite for all other modules. After completion you will receive a course confirmation.
Module 2 & 3 / Consolidation massage knowledge back and front:
The two modules focus on the back of the body (Module 2) and the front of the body (Module 3). The prerequisite for participation in the Advanced courses is the completion of the Basics Workshop. The modules also serve as the entry into our diploma training.
Module 4 / Intensive Week Lomilomi Therapy:
Our Lomilomi intensive week takes place in the mountains during the summer. Here, existing knowledge is deepened and further techniques are taught. Also the most important plants for the Lomilomi massage and an insight into the making of the massage oil as well as nature in general are topics in this week. Participation in the intensive week is mandatory for the Lomilomi diploma.
Module 5 / Olelo Hawai’i:
Workshop with Kumu Keala Ching on Hawai'i language and Hawaiian values.
Module 6 / Skills training:
Exam Preparation Day. If you want to receive our diploma, you will prove your acquired skills and knowledge regarding Lomilomi in the run-up to the diploma exam.
Module 7 / Consolidation Afternoons:
Consolidation afternoons are an optimal opportunity for repetition and serve as a refresher of what you have learned. Within the framework of the AlohaSpirit diploma training, attendance of three consolidation afternoons is obligatory.
Module 8 / Exam preparation and diploma examination:
In the 4-day course you will take an oral, written and practical exam. After passing the exam you will receive the AlohaSpirit Lomilomi diploma. In addition, external speakers will provide an input on epigenetics and bias.
Module 9 / Lomilomi exercise treatments with protocol:
Recorded practice treatments with independent reflection.
Module 10 / Self-awareness:
Experience Lomilomi massages yourself.
Module 11 / Method-specific medical basics:
Specific Lomilomi supplementary knowledge in anatomy.
